Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Prêt-à-Lire ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. Prêt-à-Lire is operated by Prêt-à-Lire Ltd ("we", "us", "our").
Website
Before the App is publicly available, we operate a "coming soon" website at pretalire.com where you can submit your email address to be notified at launch. By submitting your email, you agree that we may use it solely for that purpose, as described in our Privacy Policy. These Terms otherwise apply to your access to and use of that website.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to create a parent/guardian account. Prêt-à-Lire is intended for use by parents and guardians to create stories for children in their care. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the App complies with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
Account Registration
To use Prêt-à-Lire, you must create an account, either with a valid email address and password or by using Sign in with Apple. You agree to: • Provide accurate and complete registration information • Maintain the security of your password • Promptly notify us of any unauthorised use of your account • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
Child Profiles
You may create child profiles within your account to personalise stories. By creating a child profile, you confirm that: • You are the parent or legal guardian of the child, or have obtained appropriate parental consent • The information you provide is accurate • You will supervise your child's use of any content generated by the App
Subscriptions and Payments
Prêt-à-Lire offers free and paid subscription plans, billed through the Apple App Store. A web version of the App is planned; billing terms for website purchases will be added here once that launches. Free Plan • Limited to 2 stories per month • Basic story styles Paid Plans (Starter, Family, Annual) • See in-app pricing for current rates • Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period • Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings One-Time Purchases • Individual story credits are non-refundable once used for story generation Refunds • Refund requests must be made through Apple per their refund policies — we cannot process these refunds directly. Price Changes • We may change subscription prices with 30 days' notice via email or in-app notification. Continued use after price changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
AI-Generated Content
Prêt-à-Lire uses artificial intelligence to generate story text, illustrations, and narration. You acknowledge that: • AI-generated content is not guaranteed to be accurate, appropriate, or error-free in all cases • We have content safety filters in place, but AI can occasionally produce unexpected output • You should review stories before reading them to your child • AI-generated content is provided "as is" for personal, non-commercial use within your family Content Ownership • Stories generated using your prompts and child profiles are for your personal family use • You may not resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit AI-generated stories • We retain no ownership over the specific stories generated for your account
Acceptable Use
You agree not to: • Use the App to generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content • Attempt to bypass content safety filters • Share your account credentials with others outside your household • Use automated scripts or bots to generate stories • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the App • Use the App for any commercial purpose without our written consent We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service.
Intellectual Property
The Prêt-à-Lire app, including its design, code, branding, and original content (excluding AI-generated stories), is owned by Prêt-à-Lire Ltd and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App for personal, family use in accordance with these Terms.
Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT: • THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE • AI-GENERATED CONTENT WILL MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS • THE APP WILL BE AVAILABLE IN ALL REGIONS TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PRÊT-À-LIRE LTD SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY FOR DEATH, PERSONAL INJURY, FRAUD, OR ANY OTHER LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED BY LAW.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. For EU/EEA users: Nothing in these Terms affects your rights as a consumer under EU law.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
